The Haizhu Lake Ecological Exhibition Garden is situated on 21.48 hectares of land in downtown Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China.
The project's goal was to recover sensitive wetland area from its current dense industrial and automotive use for public and more ecologically sensitive commercial use.
At just under 3 million square feet, the project includes cultural venues for the public, a LingNan culture garden village with both conventional and culturally themed venues, a 30-room Asian Financial Union Conference Hotel with 58 private villas, and ecological residential units. Other important features of the plan include a 200m wide urban green space from Xinjiao Middle Road, significant open space and view corridors towards Haizhu Lake, and a lush landscape to integrate with the park and waterways.
This project required extensive work with local provincial staff and the mayor of Guangzhou.
