Seaside Resort

Project Type

Resort

Location

Seaside, California

This 220 key destination resort proposed for the site of the current driving range of the Bayonet & Black Horse Golf Course on the former Fort Ord military base was designed as part of an overall rejuvenation plan for the decomissioned base’s grounds and as a way to elevate the Town of Seaside to compete with the neighboring Monterey's resort inventory.

The site’s 75’ foot elevation drop, seen as a significant challenge to future development was turned into a planning benefit. The single-story hotel arrival feels consistent with the scale of neighboring residential projects while the hotel’s mass steps down the hill towards the ocean. On-grade single-loaded wings spring from the organizing central spine to provide unobstructed ocean-view suites.

Among the property's proposed amenities are a new golf clubhouse, an extensive fitness and spa program, a separate F&B field house experience, a large meeting facility with interior and exterior break-out space, and freestanding for-sale casitas units.
